Fundación — "founded and self-funded by former finance executive Cate Luzio, in late 2018". The same page states Luzio left her banking career and self-funded the launch in March 2018.

Luminary is a gender-inclusive professional education and networking platform founded and self-funded in 2018 by Cate Luzio, previously global head of multinational corporate banking at HSBC. It combines a physical clubhouse with a subscription community. The flagship is a 15,000 square foot space at 1204 Broadway in New York's NoMad district, with three floors, a rooftop lounge, meeting rooms and event space; members can also use more than 40 partner spaces globally. Programming runs to more than 250 events, workshops and activations a year, of which the organisation says over 70 per cent are member-led. Membership is deliberately open: Luminary states there is "No application process. No gatekeeping. Just access." and describes itself as inclusive of women and their allies rather than women only. Six paid options are published, from a virtual-only Digital tier at US$49 a month to Collective Plus at US$299 a month, plus a standalone Cru peer-group product at US$399 for six months. Alongside individual membership, Luminary runs a business-to-business line: more than 100 corporate partners representing over 500,000 employees. In late 2023 it acquired The Cru, a peer-group company, adding facilitated accountability circles to its offering.

Cómo funciona

Members choose a tier online and are active immediately; there is no application or vetting. Digital members use the online member portal, directory and virtual programming; the physical tiers add a defined number of days a month at the New York space or unlimited access, plus use of partner workspaces. Meeting rooms are bookable at an hourly rate that varies by tier, and members get a discount on event space. Cru groups meet for 90 minutes monthly over six months in small facilitated peer circles, available as an add-on or standalone. Corporate members buy access for cohorts of employees.

Miembro tipo

Luminary sets no seniority, revenue or title bar. The founder's description spans "entrepreneurs to those navigating their career path, the Power Middle to the C-suite, those in transition, and everyone in between". Corporate partners represent more than 500,000 employees worldwide.

Contexto independiente

Luminary is unusual in this database for saying outright that it does not gatekeep: no application, no committee, no revenue test, and men are welcome as allies. That makes the comparison with Athena Alliance instructive - similar audience, opposite admissions philosophy, and roughly a tenfold difference in price at the entry tier. What members are buying is space and programming rather than a filtered peer group, and the value depends heavily on being able to use the New York clubhouse. Two things to check before joining. First, the member count on Luminary's own About page is internally inconsistent, giving both "several thousand members" and "more than 15,000 members" in adjacent paragraphs. Second, the substantial corporate business means a share of the community arrives through an employer rather than by choice.
