NEXUS Global membership requirements

Every criterion NEXUS Global publishes, with its source, the date it was verified and how confident we are in it — plus superseded figures, so you can see how the tests have moved.

Read a requirement as the organization's published floor, not as a promise. A revenue test may have alternative versions for different business types, chapters can set stricter local tests, and invitation-only bodies publish criteria that describe members rather than admit them.

Invitation Membership requires being invited or applying, being accepted by the NEXUS Organizing Committee, and attending a multi-day summit; membership then lasts three years Acceptance is at the committee's discretion and subject to minimum member ratios being met. Verified September 2026High confidenceSource ↗
Maximum age at joining Most participants are between 15 and 40, with a special emphasis on the next generation; up to 10 per cent of places go to mentors and allies over 40 The NEXUS Australia chapter states members should be 18–45. Verified September 2026High confidenceSource ↗
Minimum net worth No wealth threshold is applied — NEXUS states explicitly that "you do not have to be wealthy to join NEXUS" Composition ratios rather than a wealth test govern who is admitted; the Australian chapter targets roughly 50 per cent wealth holders. Other criterion Admission is governed by target composition ratios: approximately 50 per cent wealth holders (next-generation philanthropists, inheritors, impact investors), 30 per cent social change makers, 15 per cent corporate funders and philanthropic advisers, 5 per cent young public service leaders Published by the NEXUS Australia chapter; the global organisation refers to minimum member ratios without publishing the figures. Sponsorship Member referrals are among the selection criteria, though a referral is not stated to be mandatory Verified September 2026Medium confidenceSource ↗

NEXUS publishes no giving pledge, wealth threshold or asset test. The binding constraint is acceptance to a summit.

How admission works

Application process
Applications open three to four months before each summit. Candidates apply online or are invited, and the NEXUS Organizing Committee reviews within weeks against member referrals, personal and professional background, diversity and the target composition ratios. NEXUS describes the process as highly selective, with far more applications than places. Acceptance plus attendance at the multi-day summit confers membership for three years. Existing members are not guaranteed a seat at future summits.

Selectivity
NEXUS states applications significantly exceed available spots and that a quality application does not guarantee admission, noting that it has 6,000+ members while its largest Global Summit seats only 700. No acceptance rate is published.
Membership term
Three years from attending a qualifying summit
Primary audience
People in their twenties to early forties who control or will control significant wealth — inheritors, next-generation philanthropists and impact investors — together with social entrepreneurs, philanthropic advisers and young public-sector leaders
Typical member
NEXUS deliberately mixes wealth-holders with the people they might fund. Its Australian chapter publishes the target ratio: roughly 50 per cent wealth holders including next-generation philanthropists, inheritors and impact investors; 30 per cent social change makers; 15 per cent corporate funders, impact investors and philanthropic advisers; and 5 per cent young leaders in public service. Most participants are between 15 and 40, with up to 10 per cent of places reserved for mentors and allies over 40.
