The short version

Peer Group Guide does not require an account, does not build a profile of you, and does not sell anything about you. The organizations you star are stored in your own browser and never reach our servers. The answers you give the qualification tool are used once to compute a results page and are not saved. If you give us an email address — for the newsletter, to follow an organization, or to request information from one — we keep that and what you wrote, and nothing else.

What we collect

• Server logs. Standard web-server records — IP address, page requested, time, referring page, browser user-agent — retained for a limited period for security and to diagnose faults.
• Aggregate product analytics. We record that a search, filter, comparison, qualification run, profile view or outbound click happened, with a salted one-way hash of the IP address that cannot be reversed, no cookie and no cross-site identifier. For qualification runs we record only that a run happened and how many questions were answered — never the answers.
• Newsletter and follow addresses. Only if you enter one. Used to send The Membership Brief or a notice that an organization you follow changed its requirements or fees, and nothing else. Every message carries an unsubscribe link; unsubscribing deletes the record.
• Requests for membership information. Your name, email and message, the organization you asked about, the exact fields you consented to share and the consent wording you saw. Nothing is forwarded to an organization without that consent, and only where the organization participates in our programme.
• Profile claims, corrections and messages you send through the forms — kept so we can verify, reply and act.
• Questions asked of Ask the Data. The text is sent to our AI provider to produce the answer and is rate-limited by IP address; it is not stored. Do not put personal information into it.

We do not use behavioural analytics, advertising pixels or cross-site trackers of our own.

Sensitive financial information

The qualification tool asks about company revenue, net worth and investable assets in ranges only, never exact figures, and does not require any of them. Answers are posted to our server, used to compute the page, and discarded. If you tick "remember these answers", they are stored in your own browser's local storage, not with us. They are never shared with any organization or third party.

Cookies and local storage

The site sets one cookie of its own, lang, which remembers your interface language. Your theme, reading view, saved organizations and any remembered qualification answers are kept in your browser's local storage — on your device, never transmitted to us. Because the site sets only a strictly necessary preference cookie, no consent banner is shown; if advertising or third-party analytics are introduced, a consent mechanism will be added before they load and this page updated first. Advertising

Peer Group Guide may in future display advertising served by Google AdSense. If and when it does, Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet. You may opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings and of third-party vendors' cookies at aboutads.info. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website.

Third parties who process data on our behalf

• Our hosting provider, which operates the server and its logs.
• Anthropic, which processes the text of Ask the Data questions to generate answers.
• An organization's membership team — only your name, email and message, only for the request you made, and only with your explicit consent.
• Google, if and when advertising is enabled.

Your rights

You may ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Since the only records tied to an identity are an email subscription, a request you sent us and any message you wrote, such requests are quick to honour. Write to us through the contact page.

Children

This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

Material changes to this policy will be reflected in the date at the top of this page.
