Central Texas Angel Network

The Central Texas Angel Network is an independent non-profit member organisation in Austin that sources, screens and syndicates early-stage investments, principally in Texas. Founded in 2006, it publishes a full price list: individual or couple membership at $2,500 a year, group membership covering up to four designees at $4,500, and reduced out-of-state rates of $1,500 and $3,500 respectively, with annual dues falling by $500 from the second year. Membership requires accredited-investor status, a signed membership agreement and rules of conduct, a qualification meeting with a board member, and an active profile on the group's Dealum platform. Members invest individually and appear on the cap table in their own name rather than through the network; a sidecar fund is separately available to members. CTAN reports $142.4 million invested in 233 companies with 57 exits, and states a 4.3x return on cash, describing that as roughly double the national average for angel groups.

The published return figure of 4.3x on cash is self-reported and not independently audited, and the group's own comparison to a national average should be read as such. The out-of-state tier makes it one of the few regional angel groups deliberately open to non-local investors. It suits accredited investors who want to build a Texas-weighted early-stage portfolio and are prepared to do diligence work; it is not a fit for anyone seeking a passively managed vehicle.
