创立: Founded in 1934; Wikipedia names Allen Crow as founder.
The Detroit Economic Club is a non-partisan, non-profit forum founded in 1934 for the discussion and debate of business, government and social issues. It runs about 35 meetings a season, typically breakfast or lunch events at which a speaker talks for 20 to 30 minutes before questions and networking, and it has hosted every US president since Richard Nixon along with Fortune 100 chief executives and cabinet officials. It operates from 211 West Fort Street in downtown Detroit. Dues are published and low relative to comparable city forums: $150 a year for regular membership, $500 for Gold, $120 for the Associate category covering clergy, full-time faculty, government officials, non-profit employees and retirees over 60, $120 for non-residents living and working more than 50 miles from downtown Detroit, and $75 for the Young Leader Program, which is open to those under 40 and adds professional development programming to the standard benefits. The club admitted women to membership in 1973, following Michigan's ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment.
运作方式
Members attend the speaker meeting programme through the season, with roughly 35 events a year. Gold membership is positioned as adding access to regional and global leaders beyond the standard programme. Young Leader Program members get the regular benefits plus programming aimed at professional and personal development, and form a substantial share of the membership.
典型会员
Membership spans corporate executives and professionals in the Detroit region, with dedicated discounted categories for clergy, full-time faculty at accredited institutions, government officials, non-profit employees, retirees over 60, and people based more than 50 miles away. Over a third of the membership is reported to be in the under-40 Young Leader Program.

独立背景信息
The Detroit Economic Club is a speaker forum rather than a peer group, and its pricing reflects that: at $150 a year for regular membership and $75 for under-40s, it is priced for broad civic participation, not exclusivity. What it sells is the podium: an unusually consistent record of sitting presidents, cabinet officials and Fortune 100 chief executives speaking in Detroit, plus the room those speakers draw. Anyone looking for confidential peer advisory work or investment access should look elsewhere. Two disclosure points are worth noting: the club publishes no member count on its own site, so the 3,500 figure rests on secondary reporting, and the difference between Gold and regular membership is described only in general terms, with no itemised benefit list.
