設立 — Not publicly disclosed
The HBR Advisory Council is Harvard Business Review's invitation-only reader research panel, and despite the name it is not a paid executive membership network of the kind the other councils in this batch represent. HBR describes its purpose plainly: members "help us improve the content we publish as well as help chart our future direction", and "provide feedback to our editors, preview new content, and weigh in on ideas from HBR as well as those from the wider world of management and leadership". Membership is by invitation only, and HBR does not publish eligibility criteria or a member count. There is no membership fee, no application route and no directory, forum or event programme. Members are invited to take part in research projects during the year, which may be online, telephone, postal, one-to-one or group interviews; participation is optional and HBR aims not to invite anyone to more than one survey a month. In return, members can usually download exclusive HBR content after completing a survey, and on some projects receive the final research report. HBR has appointed Beehive Research Ltd to run the research, registered with the Market Research Society and ESOMAR. Members leave by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email.
仕組み
HBR invites readers to join. Members receive periodic invitations to research projects run by Beehive Research Ltd, delivered as online surveys or as telephone, postal, one-to-one or group interviews. Participation in any given project is voluntary, and the stated aim is no more than one survey a month. Completing a survey typically unlocks exclusive HBR content to download, and some projects share the final research report or whitepaper with participants. Membership ends when a member uses the unsubscribe link in any council email.

独立した背景情報
This entry is included because the HBR Advisory Council is frequently listed alongside paid publisher councils, and the comparison is misleading. It is a market research panel: there is no fee, no vetting against revenue or title thresholds, no member directory, no networking programme and no publishing opportunity. The reward is early content and, on some projects, a copy of the research report. The practical implications are twofold. For an executive, joining costs nothing but confers no credential, and the "Advisory Council" title on a profile does not indicate selection against a business standard. For a researcher, note that HBR outsources the fieldwork to Beehive Research Ltd, a firm registered with the Market Research Society and ESOMAR, so survey participation is governed by market-research codes rather than by a membership agreement.
