Miami Angels was a South Florida angel network founded in 2013 that invested in early-stage technology companies which already had a product and revenue, describing itself as industry agnostic. Its own figures put it at more than 60 companies and more than $36 million invested; the announcement of its combination with New World Angels put the portfolio at close to 100 startups, including early positions in Nearpod, BabySparks and Marco. On 10 March 2026 the group announced it would join with New World Angels, the older Boca Raton network, to form a statewide Florida platform operating under the New World name, with more than $65 million collectively deployed and 35 years of combined operating history. Miami Angels contributed roughly 65 members. Its managing director, Jared Schwitzke, moved to an advisory role at New World Angels and board member Juha Mikkola joined the New World board. Miami Angels never published membership dues, requirements or a minimum investment commitment, and its website no longer carries a membership page.

How it works

Historically the group screened South Florida technology companies with product and revenue, presented them to members, and let members invest individually. Since March 2026 investment activity, deal screening and membership have run through New World Angels rather than Miami Angels.

Typical member

Could not be independently verified in detail. The group described itself as industry agnostic and drew members from the Miami technology and finance community; its combined-organisation announcement cited a deeper focus on financial industry innovation as the contribution Miami members brought.

Membership requirements

Requirements are the tests the organization itself publishes — an age ceiling, a company-revenue floor, a net-worth minimum, a role. Where a figure straddles a range, the organization's own assessment decides. Local chapters can apply stricter tests than the published standard.

— Not publicly disclosed. Miami Angels published no membership requirements page, and its site is now a single archival page.

Application process
No application route remains. Since the March 2026 combination, investors are directed to New World Angels; the announcement names New World Angels managing director Jessica Miley as the contact for investors wanting to collaborate.

Independent context

Miami Angels is a useful case in how quickly a regional angel network can be absorbed. It was a substantial group with a decade of activity and a recognisable South Florida portfolio, yet its own managing director framed the merger as removing duplication rather than rescuing anything: two groups doing the same thing in one state. Anyone researching it today should treat the surviving website as an archive; there is no membership route through it. The organisation never published dues, requirements or investment minimums even when active, so its cost of entry cannot be reconstructed and should not be inferred from New World Angels' published $2,750 annual dues. Prospective Florida angel investors should approach New World Angels directly, which now covers the Miami corridor alongside Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville and the Space Coast.
