Milken Institute Young Leaders Circle

The Young Leaders Circle is the Milken Institute's supporter network for professionals aged 25 to 40. It reports more than 300 members across the United States, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and Asia. Membership functions as a philanthropic giving circle attached to a think tank rather than a peer-advisory group: members make an annual tax-deductible contribution, take part in the Institute's programmes and research, receive invitations to private events, and gain access to the annual Milken Institute Global Conference and selected regional summits, where the Institute says leaders from more than 60 countries convene. Entry runs through a defined sequence: a referral from a Milken Institute member or supporter, an application that the Institute states is available only by invitation, and an interview conducted by a current Young Leaders Circle member. The real product is a seat at the Global Conference, which is otherwise hard to reach at that career stage. Two caveats for anyone comparing it against fellowships. The published criteria are demographic rather than achievement-based — age 25 to 40, a location in one of five regions, and a referral — with no revenue, title or track-record test, so the filter is largely who you already know inside the Institute. And the contribution amount is not published anywhere, which makes the cost of entry impossible to compare without contacting the Institute.
