Washington Athletic Club
The club says its members are leaders in their industries and presents itself as a fitness, professional and social club for Seattle; a separate Envoy (non-resident) membership is reserved for people living and working outside the greater Seattle metropolitan area, and a Corporate Wellness programme is offered to employers.

Fundación: The clubhouse opened in 1930 as Seattle's third-tallest building; ground was broken on 16 December 1929 and the building was completed in December 1930. The club dates itself from 1930.
The Washington Athletic Club is a private city athletic club in downtown Seattle, opened in 1930 in an Art Deco tower designed by Sherwood D. Ford that was then the city's third-tallest building. The clubhouse runs to 21 floors and combines five floors of fitness and athletics -- including a sixth-floor pool named for the Olympic swimmer Helene Madison, a wellness centre, and reformer Pilates and hot yoga studios added in autumn 2025 -- with three restaurants, a full-service day spa, 16 banquet and conference rooms, remote-work areas, a licensed childcare centre, and the 109-room Inn at the WAC with seven suites on the upper floors. The club offers more than 90 fitness classes a week and more than 200 events a year, and members hold reciprocal privileges at more than 200 clubs worldwide. Membership categories include resident membership, the Envoy non-resident membership for those based outside the Seattle metropolitan area, and a corporate wellness programme. All applications are reviewed and must be approved by the Membership and Marketing Committee and the WAC Board of Governors, and memberships begin on the first of a month. The club does not publish dues or an initiation fee.
Cómo funciona
Prospective members complete a tour request form and visit the clubhouse; the club then reviews the application, which must be approved by the Membership and Marketing Committee and the Board of Governors before membership starts on the first of the following month. Members use a single downtown clubhouse for fitness, dining, wellness services, meetings and overnight stays, and join affinity groups organised around shared interests. Envoy (non-resident) members use the club as a Seattle base, with access to the Inn, ticket programmes and virtual fitness classes. Reciprocal privileges cover more than 200 clubs worldwide, including the New York Athletic Club and the Outrigger Canoe Club in Honolulu.
Miembro tipo
Members are Seattle-area professionals and families, plus non-resident Envoy members who use the club as a Seattle base. The club runs childcare, family traditions and youth camps alongside its professional programming. No current membership total is published.

Cuando una cifra abarca un rango, es la propia organización quien decide. Los capítulos locales pueden aplicar criterios más estrictos que el estándar publicado.

Estructura y programación
Contexto independiente
The WAC is a different proposition from the older Seattle city club down the street: it is first an athletic club, with five fitness floors, a competitive-sport heritage that runs from Helene Madison to the 1936 Olympic crew, and family programming including licensed childcare and summer camps. That makes it a plausible primary club for people who want to train and to entertain in the same building, and a poor fit for anyone wanting a quiet dining club. The application is genuinely reviewed -- committee plus board approval is stated -- but no criteria, sponsorship rule or acceptance rate is published, and neither dues nor an initiation fee appears anywhere on the site, so cost has to be established by contacting the membership office. The Envoy tier and the corporate wellness programme are the two routes in that do not require living in Seattle.
