Fundación: Family Enterprise USA states it has represented family-owned enterprises "since 2007". Its sister advocacy body traces to 1995 under its former name, Policy and Taxation Group.
Family Enterprise USA is a Washington-based 501(c)(3) that lobbies and educates on behalf of American family-owned businesses. It is an advocacy organisation first and a membership network second: the core activity is putting family business owners in front of members of Congress and their staff, and supplying research on the economic footprint of family enterprise. Its declared policy priorities are estate-tax exemption levels, opposition to a wealth tax, preservation of the Section 199A pass-through deduction and protection of valuation discounts used in succession planning. Membership is sold in four flat-priced annual tiers, from an associate tier for non-family businesses up to a Chairman's Circle that carries board-seat consideration and access to Congressional Family Business Caucus meetings. The organisation works alongside a 501(c)(4) sister body, Family Enterprise USA Action, which handles direct lobbying; that entity operated as the Policy and Taxation Group from 1995 until it was renamed in January 2026. Pat Soldano is president of both. Unlike peer-based family business networks, FEUSA does not run confidential forums or succession programming.
Cómo funciona
Members pay a flat annual fee for a defined tier of access. All tiers receive email policy updates and a quarterly webcast with the Washington staff. From the Enterprise tier upward members are invited to the Day on Capitol Hill and regional events; the Strategic tier adds the annual DC meeting; the Chairman's Circle adds Congressional Family Business Caucus meetings and consideration for a board seat. Advocacy that constitutes direct lobbying runs through the affiliated 501(c)(4), Family Enterprise USA Action.
Miembro tipo
Members are family-owned businesses "of all sizes, professions, and industries" and multi-generational employers, alongside associate members that are not themselves family businesses: typically advisory firms, banks and service providers. Higher tiers are aimed at families willing to travel to Washington and meet legislators directly.

Contexto independiente
This is a policy shop with a membership wrapper, and it is worth being clear about that before comparing it to peer networks. There are no forums, no facilitated peer groups and no succession curriculum; what a member buys is representation on tax policy and a route into Capitol Hill meetings. Pricing is unusually transparent for this sector (four published tiers from $1,000 to $10,000), and the tiers are additive rather than qualifying, so there is no revenue, generation or ownership test to meet. The 501(c)(3) / 501(c)(4) split matters: charitable membership dues fund education and research, while the lobbying sits in the sister entity, which was called the Policy and Taxation Group until January 2026. Member counts are not published, which makes it hard to judge scale. Families looking for peer learning rather than tax advocacy are better served elsewhere.
