Invest Europe
European private equity, venture capital and infrastructure fund managers and the institutional investors who back them
A profile page holds what the organization publishes and what named sources report: who it admits, what it costs, how it is structured, where it operates, and how it has changed. Every figure carries the date it was checked. A dash means the organization does not publish that fact.
Founding — Founded in 1983 as the European Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (EVCA); renamed Invest Europe in 2015
Invest Europe is the pan-European trade association for private equity, venture capital and infrastructure investors. It was founded in 1983 as the European Private Equity and Venture Capital Association and took its current name in 2015. It reports more than 650 members plus around 110 associate members, based in 57 countries, and describes itself as the world's largest association of private capital providers. Members are organised into four platforms — Limited Partner, Global Private Equity, Venture Capital and Mid-Market — which give both LPs and GPs a route into the association's policy positions. Full membership requires being located in Europe, and general partners must have completed a first fund closing and made initial investments. Every member must adhere to the code of conduct in the Invest Europe Professional Standards Handbook. The association's principal outputs are European policy advocacy, the Professional Standards Handbook, and industry statistics collected through the European Data Cooperative, which draws on roughly 4,000 firms and 10,900 funds. It also runs conferences including a Venture Capital Forum and an Investors' Forum, plus a training programme.
How it works
Firms apply through the head of membership, join one of four platforms as full members or join as associate or honorary members, and pay an annual subscription. There are no chapters or peer forums; engagement runs through policy consultations, platform councils, the annual conference calendar, training courses and the member search directory. Employees of member firms can register for free individual accounts.
Typical member
Full members are private equity, venture capital and infrastructure firms and the investors in those funds, including large European pension funds and insurers, funds of funds, secondaries funds and banks. Associate members are advisers and service providers — law firms, consultants, financial advisers, academic institutions and NGOs. Honorary membership is reserved for national private equity associations.
Membership requirements
Requirements in detail, with history →Requirements are the tests the organization itself publishes — an age ceiling, a company-revenue floor, a net-worth minimum, a role. Where a figure straddles a range, the organization's own assessment decides. Local chapters can apply stricter tests than the published standard.

Structure and programming
Independent context
Invest Europe is the closest European analogue to the NVCA, but it is materially less transparent on price: neither the membership page nor the become-a-member page publishes a fee schedule, and the site routes all pricing questions to a named staff member. Anyone budgeting should expect that to be a negotiated, size-banded number in the same territory as UK Private Capital's published bands. The four-platform structure is the distinctive feature — it gives limited partners a formal voice rather than treating them as an afterthought, which is unusual among GP-led trade bodies. The requirement that general partners have closed a first fund and made investments excludes pre-first-close managers, so it is not a route to visibility for people still fundraising. Its data, via the European Data Cooperative, is the main reason many members stay.
