Portfolia
Accredited investors, predominantly women, who want to invest in venture funds and take part in the diligence process rather than write individual angel cheques
A profile page holds what the organization publishes and what named sources report: who it admits, what it costs, how it is structured, where it operates, and how it has changed. Every figure carries the date it was checked. A dash means the organization does not publish that fact.
Founding: Could not be independently verified. Portfolia's own story page names Trish Costello as founder but gives no year; third-party sources report 2013, 2014 and 2015, and Costello has described starting the venture in 2015.
Portfolia is a venture investing platform built around a series of themed funds that its investor community joins as limited partners. Rather than a members' club with dues, the entry point is a fund commitment: $10,000 is the stated minimum, the average commitment is about $35,000, and an individual can invest up to $500,000. Each fund makes roughly ten or more investments and has a term of up to seven years, after which unsold positions are sold on the secondary market or held. Funds are themed, covering women's health and femtech, active aging, sustainability, and companies in underrepresented US markets under the Rising America banner, with an Opportunity Fund investing later stage from Series C to pre-IPO. Investors are not passive: the model includes monthly live pitch calls with founders, free investing classes, and the option to take part in due diligence at whatever level of time and expertise they have. The platform reports more than 2,200 women investors across 48 US states and 20 countries and more than 110 portfolio companies. All investors must be accredited.
How it works
Prospective investors speak to the investor relations team or apply through an online form, then commit to one or more open funds. Once in a fund, members attend live pitch calls with founders each month, can join diligence work, and vote with their attention rather than deal by deal, since the fund's leadership team makes the final allocation. Free investing classes run alongside. Funds are led by domain expert partners for each theme.
Typical member
Investors are accredited under SEC rules and span people new to venture and experienced investors. The community is designed by and for women, though the FAQ states men are welcome. Average commitment is about $35,000 per fund.
Membership requirements
Requirements in detail, with history →Requirements are the tests the organization itself publishes: an age ceiling, a company-revenue floor, a net-worth minimum, a role. Where a figure straddles a range, the organization's own assessment decides. Local chapters can apply stricter tests than the published standard.

Structure and programming
Independent context
Portfolia is a fund platform wearing the clothes of an investor community, and the distinction matters. Members do not choose individual deals the way they would at CTAN or Sand Hill Angels; they commit capital to a themed fund and gain access, education and diligence participation in return. That lowers the work required and produces automatic diversification across ten or more companies, at the cost of control and of fund-level fees. Those fees are the notable gap: Portfolia publishes minimums and fund life clearly but does not publish management fees or carried interest anywhere on its public site, which are the numbers that determine net returns. The claim of top-quartile fund performance is self-reported with no methodology attached. Founding year is genuinely unclear across sources. It suits accredited investors who want venture exposure with a community around it, not those who want to pick their own companies.
