CEOs, owners and presidents, with parallel tracks for C-suite executives reporting to the CEO and for high-potential managers on leadership programmes
A profile page holds what the organization publishes and what named sources report: who it admits, what it costs, how it is structured, where it operates, and how it has changed. Every figure carries the date it was checked. A dash means the organization does not publish that fact.
Founding — Entrepreneur's franchise directory records the company as founded in 1994 and franchising since 1994. REF's own site says only "Founded 30 years ago in the USA" and "With 30 years of experience", which is consistent.
REF, until recently Renaissance Executive Forums, is a peer-advisory organisation founded in the United States in 1994 and run on a franchise model, with licensees operating local markets. Its core product is the Forum: a curated board of 12 to 15 executives from non-competing industries that meets one morning a month under a certified REF Forum Leader. Each meeting follows a fixed structure - an expert insight session, a round table on leadership and self-development, and a rigorously prepared case in which a member brings a live challenge to the group. Membership runs in three tracks: Top Executive for CEOs, owners and presidents; Key Executive for CXOs and upper management reporting directly to the CEO; and High Potentials for selected high performers on leadership programmes. Around the Forum, REF provides a global community platform with a member directory, expert webinars, and curated trips and retreats. The organisation reports more than 3,000 members across 20 countries and 51 locations, with an unusually deep footprint in Latin America relative to comparable US-origin peer organisations. Fees are not published.
How it works
An applicant selects one of three tracks on the application form, supplying title, industry, employee count and revenue, and is then matched to a local Forum of 12-15 non-competing executives. Forums meet one morning a month in a three-part structure: expert insight, round table, and a member case presented for structured peer feedback. Between meetings members use the REF global community platform and app, join network groups, and can take part in curated trips and retreats.
Typical member
Members are CEOs, owners and presidents of non-competing businesses, plus CXOs and upper management reporting directly to the CEO in the Key Executive track and high performers selected for leadership programmes in the High Potentials track. REF publishes no revenue or headcount threshold, though its application form asks for employee count and revenue.
Membership requirements
Requirements in detail, with history →Requirements are the tests the organization itself publishes — an age ceiling, a company-revenue floor, a net-worth minimum, a role. Where a figure straddles a range, the organization's own assessment decides. Local chapters can apply stricter tests than the published standard.

Independent context
REF is the least US-centric organisation in this batch: more than half its named locations are in Latin America and Spain, and the site runs in English, Spanish and Portuguese, which makes it a genuine option for a leader in Bogota, Guayaquil or Monterrey where Vistage-family coverage is thinner. Two structural points are worth understanding. It is a franchise, so the quality of the local Forum Leader and market is decisive - Entrepreneur's directory records a 20% royalty and 27 franchise units, and licensees recruit their own members. And nothing about price is published anywhere; the Peer Resources directory noted the same absence years ago. The once-a-month morning format is lighter than Vistage's full day plus coaching session and heavier than a quarterly board. The rebrand from Renaissance Executive Forums is recent enough that both names remain in circulation, which complicates searching.
