Fundación — Founded by Ray Hickok, then 27 and running his family's manufacturing business in Rochester, New York; the first meeting was held at the Waldorf Astoria in New York.
YPO is a global peer network for chief executives who join before the age of 45 and run companies that clear published size thresholds. It was founded in 1950 in Rochester, New York, by Ray Hickok, and it now describes a community of more than 38,000 members grouped into 14 regions, with chapters in more than 142 countries. Members belong to a local chapter and, within it, to a forum: a small confidential group that is the core of the model. Chapters run their own education, speaker and social calendars; YPO adds global events, university partnerships and online resources on top. Eligibility is tested on company scale rather than personal wealth. A member must be president, CEO, chair or the equivalent, with final decision-making authority and full profit-and-loss accountability, and the company must pass an employee test and one of several revenue, assets-under-management or enterprise-value tests. Members who pass the age limit transition to YPO Gold, which keeps access to events and networks but not to voting rights or leadership positions.
Cómo funciona
Applicants apply through a chapter, and accepted members join that chapter and are placed in a forum. Forums meet regularly under confidentiality norms; chapters run local events and education. YPO layers regional and global events, learning programmes and an online member platform above the chapter. Membership renews annually, with international renewal dues payable on 1 June.
Miembro tipo
Members are the top operating executive of their company or division, with full profit-and-loss accountability and hire/fire authority. Qualifying companies are mid-market and larger: at least 50 full-time employees, or 15 employees plus USD 2.75 million of annual employee compensation, with revenue tests from USD 13 million upward depending on business type.

| Cuotas del capítulo local | Not publicly disclosed. Chapter dues are set by each chapter and are additional to international dues; YPO publishes no global schedule. Individual chapter pages surfaced in search list figures in the roughly USD 4,000-6,000 range, but these are not centrally published and vary widely by city. | |||

Contexto independiente
YPO is the reference point most other CEO organisations are measured against, and its criteria are unusually explicit: the thresholds are published, company-based and testable, which makes self-assessment straightforward. What is not published is just as notable. YPO discloses international dues and the initiation fee but not chapter dues, which are set locally and are frequently the larger number; it publishes no acceptance rate, and no global chapter list. Cost therefore cannot be established from official sources alone. The age ceiling is the defining constraint: it keeps the cohort relatively young but also means most members eventually move to YPO Gold, a different and less-documented tier. Experience varies widely by chapter, since chapters control programming, dues and much of the selection, so the organisation's global figures say little about what any individual member gets.
