Private business clubs

Business clubs are premises-based organizations whose product is the building, the dining room, the events calendar and the company: the traditional city clubs founded in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, the university clubs that require a degree, the athletic clubs with a business membership, and the newer members' clubs positioned for entrepreneurs. Almost none publish initiation fees or dues, and most require a proposer and seconder. Where a figure has been reported by a named publication it is shown as reported, with its date, and never presented as the club's own.
